The teachers

Neema Majmudar was born in Bombay and has completed Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University and a MBA. She worked at the United Nations in New-York, Fiji and Bangkok. She also worked for Aim for Seva, a movement and a NGO launched by Swami Dayananda in 2000 in the field of providing education for unprivileged children in tribal areas of India.

Neema met Swami Dayananda, a well known contemporary teacher of Advaita Vedanta (Non Duality) in the tradition of Adi Sankaracarya and a scholar in Sanskrit in the USA in 1986 during a conference in Philadelphia. She has been studying Vedanta for the last 25 years and followed a three and half year residential course with Swami Dayananda at Coimbatore from 1995 to 1998.

Since 1999, Neema has been teaching Vedanta and giving conferences, conducting seminars and retreats across the world. The seminars and retreats that she conducts with her husband Surya incorporate concepts of Indian Philosophy with Western Psychology, Ethics, Physics, Neurobiology and Management. These activities are aimed at guiding individuals and leaders of various organizations to be more objective, dynamic and compassionate in an increasingly interconnected and complex world.

She has created with Surya Tahora a bilingual website in English and French www.discovervedanta.com, which explains in a modern style the vision of the traditional teaching of Advaita Vedanta with numerous links to articles and videos of their talks.

A double DVD on ‘Discover Your Greatness: An Insight into the Timeless Teaching of the Bhagavad Gita’was launched by her in 2011. This DVD consists of 23 videos of 10 minutes each. The verses are selected from different chapters in a way that by listening to this DVD of three and a half hours, the entire vision of Bhagavad Gita can be captured by a viewer.

One of her latest accomplishments is authoring the book ‘Living the Vision of Oneness, , Exploring realities and growing as an individual’, which expounds the ways in which the vision of Bhagavad Gita and Veda can be utilized in daily life.

Surya Tahora was born in Madagascar, a former French colony located in Indian Ocean. At the age of 10, he moved to Paris for his studies and completed a Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences for the Industry from Paris University and a MBA. After his studies, he worked for 14 years in multinational companies in international marketing and strategic planning both in Paris and Bangkok. He has also attended an intensive executive training program at INSEAD School of Management.

In 1995 he met Swami Dayananda Saraswati, a contemporary teacher of Non Duality (Advaita Vedanta) in the tradition of the Indian philosopher  Shankaracarya. For the last 17 years, Surya has been studying with him the main ancient texts of the Indian philosophical tradition in their original Sanskrit version. He attended several short term and long term courses conducted by Swamiji at Coimbatore and Rishikesh, which are two of his major institutions of learning.

From 2007 onwards Surya has been conducting seminars, intensive retreats and giving public talks on Non Duality in India, Europe, etc. both in English and in French. He created with his wife Neema Majmudar a bilingual website in French and English called Vedanta, Being alive to what is, www.discovervedanta.com, which explains in a modern style the vision of the traditional teaching of Advaita Vedanta with numerous links to articles, blogs and videos of their talks. He launched recently a blog Bridges to Oneness, http://discovervedanta.wordpress.com/ which attempts to build bridges between Indian philosophy and various disciplines of knowledge such as psychology, ecology, neurobiology, modern physics etc.

He has also translated into French several books of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, namely the Bhagavad Gita; Mundaka Upanishad; Value of Values; Living Intelligently; The fundamental Problem; The Problem is You, the Solution is You; Morning Meditations and Prayers. Several of these books have now been published and are available for French audience.

Lastly, Surya has co-written with his wife Neema a book on the relevance of the vision of Non Duality for modern world, Living the vision of Oneness, Exploring realities and growing as an individual"
